The Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura found new life with the arrival of the 23-man squad of The Bangladesh Tigers program but the resumption of international cricket is yet a far cry, said Bangladesh Cricket Board CEO.

Head of the Bangladesh Tigers program and BCB director Kazi Inam Ahmed and BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury traveled to Bogura to oversee the program and spoke to the media after inspecting the stadium.

We have started renovations to and will work with the Sports Ministry and the Sports Association to address the other issues. ’Nizamuddin said.

But it will take a long way for this venue to host international cricket again or even to be considered as a venue for Bangladesh Premier League,

’’We don’t have standard hotels and proper facilities in Bogura”, said BCB CEO.

“The ICC, as well as the BPL, have almost the same requirements. The ICC requires basic facilities like hotels and airports. If these requirements are met then we can think about arranging International Cricket and BPL matches in Bogura”, added Nizamuddin.

But at the same time, he also said that the venue will be used for various training programs in the coming days,

“We have initiated a big program like Bangladesh Tigers in this stadium and will look to schedule domestic fixtures in the future”, said the CEO.

The 23-men squad for the Bangladesh Tigers began their first day of training at the Shahid Chandu Stadium on Saturday where the cricketers practiced basic cricket skills and physical exercises.

Test captain Mominul Haque suggested the name of the venue for the preparation camp ahead of the South Africa tour and he was very busy from the beginning.

Regular Test pacers Khaled Ahmed, Abu Jayeed Chowdhury are also included in the camp where uncapped pacers like Mehidy Hasan Rana and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury are also included.
