Collin De Grandhomme’s 66 run partnership with Daryl Mitchell lifted New Zealnd to 157 for 5 at stumps on Day two in reply to South Africa’s 364 at The Hagly Oval in Christchurch.
Grandhomme attacked the bowlers scoring 54 off 61 deliveries while a steady Mitchell remained not out on 29.
Kagiso Rabada picked up 3 wickets and Marco Jansen got 2.
Earlier in the day,Neil Wagner took 4 wickets for 102 and Matt Henry had figures of 3-90 to restrict South Africa to 364.
