Nigar hopeful ahead of first World Cup match

Bangladesh Women’s cricket team is set to play their first match on Saturday against South Africa in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand.

Bangladesh Skipper Nigar Sultana will lead her team in their maiden appearance in the fifty over world cup.

Nigar relishes the opportunity to play in the world cup and believes that her side will display their improvement and compete with the world’s best.

She said,”It is a great opportunity for us.

We are an improving side and we want to show that we are ready for the world stage.’’

Nigar is confident that good performances in the World Cup would help inspire a generation of young cricketers to play cricket for Bangladesh.

Wicket-keeper batsman Nigar said that it was re-assuring to have veterans like Salma Khatun and Rumana Ahmed in the team for their experience and in off the field.

Nigar is hopeful that her team will be able to give their best on the field.On being asked what a first win in the world cup would mean to her ,Nigar answered,’’It’s a big step but we are focused on playing out best cricket.We want to deliver performances and will try to the best of our abilities.

I can’t say much about the results but we want to stay in the present and take it one step at a time.”
