Bangladesh national team footballers will train at Basundhara Kings’ home ground before they leave for the Maldives to play a friendly match on March 25, informed Bangladesh Football Federation.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed, chairman of the national team’s committee at the BFF, told the reporters that the national team footballers will start training camp on March 19.

“We will have our training at the Basundhara Kings’ home venue from March 19 to 21. We are hopeful that our training will go well and the results will be better,” he said on Wednesday.

In the upcoming FIFA friendly window, Bangladesh will play a friendly match against the Maldives on March 25. From there, the national team will return home and go to Sylhet. On March 29, Bangladesh will play against Mongolia in Sylhet.

This will be the national team’s first mission under the new coach Javier Fernández Cabrera.

Since BFF parted ways with Jamie Day, they roped in club coaches like Oscar Bruzon and Mario Lemos on an ad-hoc basis during the SAFF championship and four-nation tournament in the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

On January 8, Spaniard Cabrera was hired for 11 months, and these two friendly matches will be his first assignment with the national team.

Nabil also said that former footballer Hasan Al Mamun is appointed as the assistant coach, who worked with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi and Chattogram Abahani.

“Feeling very good, it was like dream come true for me. I had a long-time desire to work with the national team, and finally, I got the opportunity. Hopefully, I can make a meaningful contribution,” he told the media.
