Bangladesh national football team’s head coach Javier Cabrera has dropped Saad Uddin and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil from the squad announced for two friendly matches against Maldives and Mongolia.
The Spanish coach, who will be heading to his first assignment as the head coach of Bangladesh picked uncapped Mehraj Hossain Opi and ISF Faysal in the squad.
Bangladesh Football Federation Bangladesh announced the squads for the two upcoming friendly matches through a press release on Tuesday.
The matches are scheduled to take place in the last week of March, on March 24 Bangladesh will play against Maldives and on March 29 the national team will play against Mongolia. Vice-president of BFF and chairman of National Team’s committee, Kazi Nabil Ahmed told the reporters in a video message,
“Bangladesh will play away against Maldives on March 24 and will take on Mongolia at home in Sylhet District Stadium on March 29 as part of the FIFA tier-1 International friendly matches. We have announced a 23-man squad after discussions with coach Javier Cabrera and his coaching staff”, he said on Tuesday.
“The players will leave for Maldives on March 22 and were told to report on Friday and Saturday. The team will train on March 19,20 and 21 at the Bashundhara Arena”, he added.
“We have made selections on the basis on current performances and hope that this squad will perform in the upcoming games”, told Nabil in his video message.
Cabrera has been busy visiting the clubs after his arrival in Bangladesh and his observation reflected in the selection as well.
He excluded right-winger Saad Uddin for his poor form in Sheikh Russel KC, also he is not interested on Basundhara Kings forward Motin Miah and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil.
Almost after six years, Nasirul Islam Nasir made his comeback to the national team. Raihan Hasan and Jafor Iqbal also found their ways back.
From the team that played in the four-nation tournament in Sri Lanka; Sushanto Tripura, Faisal Ahmed Fahim, Obaidur Rahman Nabab, Yasin Khan and Rezaul Karim are missing out.
Topu Barman and Mohammad Hridoy are also missing out due to injury.
