First win for Mohammedan and Brothers

Mohammedan Sporting Club and Brothers Union won their respective matches of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Saturday.

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Mohammedan beat Khelaghar SKS by five wickets, while Brothers clinched victory over Shinepukur Cricket Club by three wickets at BKSP.

Mohammedan vs Khelaghar

Mohammedan won the toss and decided to field first against Khelaghar. Nazmul Islam took four wickets as Khelaghar could only score 148 runs in 49 overs. Mohammad Hafeez took three wickets. Nadif Chowdhury was the top scorer with 33 runs.

In reply, an unbeaten knock of 59 runs from Soumya Sarkar and 36 runs from Parvez Hossain Emon helped Mohammedan chase down the total within 41 overs, with five wickets in hand to earn their first points after losing to Shinepukur in their first game.

Brothers vs Shinepukur

Shinepukur won the toss and decided to bat first at BKSP Ground-3. Half-centuries from Anisul Islam Emon (51), Tasamul Haque (68), and Sikandar Raza (74*) gave Shinepukur a healthy total of 280-6 in 50 overs. Aminul Islam took three wickets.

Brothers started the chase well as both their openers got half-centuries and provided a fine base. The opening stand between Imtiaz Hossain (78) and Ahmed Sadequr (84) was 159 runs, which they added in 24.1 overs. Myshukur Rahman also added 48 runs, but in the end, it was Abu Hider’s 14* from nine balls that took Brothers home.

Brothers reached the target with three wickets and five balls to spare. Sadequr was judged Man of the Match for his innings of 84 runs from 73 balls, where he hit 11 boundaries and two sixes.
