It was a golden day for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Championship Stage-1 2022 in Thailand as they won three gold medals on Saturday.
Archers Ruman Shana and Nasrin Akter beat India to win the first gold of the day in the Recurve Mixed event. The second gold came in the Women’s Recurve Team event, with the third coming in the Women’s Recurve Individual event, where Nasrin won the gold beating compatriot Diya Siddique.
In the Recurve Mixed event, Ruman and Nasrin locked horns with India’s Ridhi Por and Parth Salunke and came out victorious by 5-3 set points.
The Gold medalists qualified for the finals after beating hosts Thailand and Kazakhstan in the quarters and the semi-finals respectively, winning both the games in straight 6-0 set points.
In the Women’s Recurve Team event, the trio of Nasrin, Diya Siddique and Fahmida Sultana Nisha beat the Indian team consisting of Ridhi Por, Tisha Punia, and Tanisha Verma, in a tie-breaker to win the final by 5-4 set points.
The Bangladesh team scored 28 in the tie-breaker, against India’s 27, resulting in Bangladesh’s second gold of the day.
The third gold medal was confirmed for Bangladesh earlier as the finalists of the Women’s Recurve Individual event were Diya and Nasrin. In the duel of teammates, Nasrin came on top as she won by 6-2 set points at the expense of Diya, who had to settle for silver.
The archers will return to Bangladesh on Saturday and will be felicitated at the Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur at 2 PM.
