Bangladesh Premier League side Chattogram Challengers are set to ask Bangladesh Cricket Board to launch an investigation against Nasum Ahmed for the player’s comments regarding not receiving full payment.
Nasum accused Chattogram of not paying him in full for his services in the BPL.
Challengers, on the other hand, denied the allegations and stated that Nasum had been paid in full per his contract.
An official statement, which deemed Nasum’s claims to be false, was issued following a press conference called by the managing Director of Chattogram Challengers, KM Rifatuzzaman.
Nasum was listed in the B category of the Bangabandhu BPL player’s draft and was signed as per guidelines by Chattogram for Tk 35 lakhs.
Out of the Tk 35 lakhs, a deduction of around 15% for tax, which amounts to Tk 4,80,000, was made. Chattogram cleared the remaining Tk 30,20,000, but Nasum allegedly wanted the Tk 35 lakhs in full and demanded the tax money as well.
Chattogram management said they cleared Nasum’s payment in full in three instalments and according to BPL regulations and it was up to the player to pay taxes from his earnings.
According to the team, Nasum wanted Chattogram to pay his taxes.
Chattogram called the left-arm spinner’s claim illogical and baseless and pointed out that Nasum was yet to file a complaint to BCB regarding the matter.
Officials of Chattogram informed that they have already emailed a complaint to the BPL Governing Council and said that they would call for an investigation by BCB on this matter.
