Bangladesh national team selector Abdur Razzak brushed off criticisms on Tigers’ Test skipper Mominul Haque's batting form and said that he and the board are not too concerned about the left-handed batsman’s captaincy.

Mominul has been going through a lean patch of form in the last few Test series as he only has one fifty in his last 12 innings, but Razzak is not ready to scrutinise Mominul yet.

“We haven’t seen the same Mominul in the last two series but everything is normal from our side. You can go through one or two bad series but you can’t just say something out of the blues about somebody because of this. We are not planning anything on Mominul’s captaincy. Every individual has different mentalities and distinct ways to measure a player’s ability,” Razzak said after the first day of the two-day practice match against Sri Lanka in BKSP.

Razzak assured that all the noise regarding Mominul’s captaincy doesn’t resonate with the board’s position on the Tiger’s Test skipper.

“He is having a bad patch, which can happen. It’s nothing more and I’m sure that the board feels the way. Or else, it would’ve been said that we no longer need his services. All the concerns about Mominul are from outside and we are not worried about him,” he said.

BCB XI took on a strong Sri Lankan side on the first day of the two-day practice match at BKSP. The visitors opted to bat after winning the toss but couldn’t have considerable time in the middle as play was called off after 40 minutes due to rain.

A heavy continuous pour washed out the rest of the day’s play as Sri Lanka managed to play eight overs, scoring 14 with the loss of one wicket. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne gloved one to the keeper off pacer Mukidul Islam.
