First international pro-boxing tournament in Bangladesh today

‘The Ultimate Glory’, the first international professional boxing tournament in Bangladesh, will start on Thursday at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.

The tri-nation tournament, arranged by Bangladesh Boxing Foundation, affiliated with World Boxing Council, and supervised by the Indian Boxing Council, will feature the national boxing champions from Bangladesh, Nepal and India.

A total of 14 boxers from Bangladesh, Nepal & India would be contending in this tournament across various weight classes. The first fight will be between Bangladesh’s Mohammad Al-Amin and Nepal’s Bharat Chand. The fight will have four rounds.

The boxers from Bangladesh are- Al-Amin (Welterweight), Aminul Islam, Muhammad Tuhin, Abu Talha Hridoy, Resatul Mahmud Sajin (Featherweight), Rizu Mondol, Jahidul Islam, Hira Miya (Cruiserweight), Muhammad Utshob Ahmed, Muhammad Akash (Bantamweight), and Sura Krishna Chakma (Lightweight). Bharat Chand (Welterweight) and Mahendra Bahadur Chand (Lightweight) are the boxers from Nepal, while Harsh Gill (Cruiserweight) is the only participant from India.

The fight night will see seven fights, including three international championship fights being the highlight of the tournament. The boxers taking part in the championship fights will receive Tk. 20,000/- while the national boxers participating in their debut fights will receive Tk. 5,000/- as purse money on the fight night.
