Bangladesh batsman Liton Das moved up three places to 17th with 662 points in the latest ICC Men’s Test Batting rankings.
The right-handed batsman was in 20th position before the start of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Having scored 88 runs in the first innings of the first Test in Chattogram, he saw this surge in the rankings.
His compatriots Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal also saw a rise in the Test batting rankings.
Mushfiq’s eighth century helped him propel four spots from 29th to 25th with 617 points, while Tamim rose eight places to 27th having accumulated 607 points with his 10th Test ton.
Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque’s run of poor form reflected on his rankings as he dropped down six positions to 57th with 508 points in the batting rankings. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy saw a significant rise in the rankings as he climbed nine spots to 83rd after his 58-run knock in Bangladesh’s
first innings in the first Test, while fellow top-order batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped five places to 88th as his dismal performances continued.
In the Test bowling rankings, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan moved one spot to 29th with 570 points and off-spinner Nayeem Hasan rose nine spots to 53rd after his six-wicket haul in the first Test.
