Australia’s Lanka tour still on

Cricket Australia has announced the 2022-23 summer fixtures for its men’s and women’s teams, with the inclusion of the Sri Lanka tour in July 2022.

Australia will tour Sri Lanka despite the political turbulence in the country.

The Aussies have previously cancelled a tour to Bangladesh in 2016 citing security concerns.

The 2022-23 summer for Australia is set to feature more matches than any other previous summer as Zimbabwe, New Zealand, West Indies, England, South Africa, and Pakistan are scheduled to tour the country.

The Sri Lanka tour is the only away tour featured in the schedule.

Zimbabwe, New Zealand, West Indies, and England will tour Australia leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will run from October 16 to November 13 in Australia. In addition to this, the Aussies will fly to India for a three-match Twenty20 series in September.

The women’s team will also tour India for a series of five T20Is in December. The World champions are scheduled to play a tri-series in July, with Pakistan, and Ireland being the other two participants. – TBP
