Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law is set to take the charge of the under-19 cricket team of Bangladesh for the next two years said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.

Khaled Mahmud, a director at the BCB and chairman of the game development committee told The Business Post that the appointment of Law as the head coach of the U-19 cricket team will be formalized in the board meeting today.

“His appointment will be finalized tomorrow (Thursday) in the board meeting, we are appointing him for two years”, he said at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Law is a familiar face in Bangladesh as he worked here in different capacities. He was the head coach of the national team in 2012, later he was the consultant of the U-19 team during the 2016 ICC U-19 World Cup which Bangladesh hosted.

Law also has performed coaching roles in Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Middlesex county, his last appointment was the interim coach of the Afghanistan team which toured Bangladesh for three one-day internationals.

The Australian will be replacing Naveed Nawaz, the Sri Lankan who joined as assistant coach of the Sri Lanka national team after leaving the job as the head coach of the Bangladesh U-19 team.

BCB is also going to cut ties with British coach Toby Radford who was contracted to work with the High-Performance team for 100 days a year.

Jamal Babu, manager of the HP team told The Business Post that he is not coming as the board declined his request to pay his total wage upfront

“ He is not coming. There is no such rule in BCB to pay an advance salary to someone for his entire schedule. Champaka ( Ramanayeke) will take over”, he said.
