Fortis Football Club limited become the champions of the Bangladesh Championship league and earned promotion to the Bangladesh Premier League, the top flight.

Fortis topped the points table of the 12-team league with 47 points from 13 wins and eight draws.

In their last match, Fortis ended with a goalless draw against NoFeL sporting club on Saturday at Kamalapur Stadium.

In the next season, Fortis will play in the Bangladesh Premier League, though the other promoted club from the Championship is yet to be decided.

Azampur Football Club Uttora are the runners-up in the championship league but the club is under investigation for corruption in football. Therefore, they were not awarded the trophy, said Bangladesh Football Federation Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedi,

“The match between Fortis and NoFeL ended in a draw, table toppers Fortis are the champions. Azampur got higher points than NoFeL, but after seeing the complaints from match commissioner and media reports the Match Observation Committee of the BFF is carrying out their investigations.”

“So, as long as their reports don’t come to us; we are not announcing the runner up”, said the BFF vice president.

He also said that by this month, BFF can announce the name of the runner-up.

If Azampur is found guilty, then third-placed NoFeL could get a promotion to the BPL.

Two clubs from the BPL will also be relegated after the end of the season to accommodate Fortis and the runners-up team.

Swadhinota Krira Songho is likely to be relegated as the team earned only six points from 15 matches so far and is now at the bottom of the table.
