The National School Cricket Tournament 2022 will end today at the Shamsuzzoha Cricket Stadium in Narayanganj, with Meherpur Government High school and Rangpur Shishu Niketan School facing in the grand finale of the country’s most prestigious school cricket competition.

Meherpur Govt High School beat Sunamganj Jubilee High School by 42 runs in the semis, while Rangpur Shishu Niketan won by three wickets against Khulna Gazi Memorial School.

With the teams on the brink of bringing the big trophy home, students, teachers, parents, and enthusiasts of the schools will be glued to their television sets as T Sports will broadcast the final live.

Meherpur Govt High School skipper Shaikh Imtiaz Shihab was brimmed with confidence and said that he and his team want to go back with the trophy.

The leggie took four wickets in the semi-final and said that he wants to lead from the front in the final as well.

“We had a specific goal coming into this tournament. Our coach instructed us to play our cricket with utmost seriousness,” the leg-spinner said. “I hope we can win the final and go back with the trophy.”

At the other end, Rangpur Shishu Niketan captain Ishtiaq Ahmed Jihan, who made his hometown district champions in the under-16 competitions, put the onus on not repeating previous mistakes.

“We did not bowl well in the semi-final. The batsman took responsibility and got the team through to the final. The coach told us to not repeat previous mistakes in the final, and we are working accordingly,” the all-rounder said.
