Bangladesh women team’s matches moved from Sylhet

The worsening flood situation in Sylhet has led Bangladesh Football Federation to shift Bangladesh women’s national team’s football matches against Malaysia from Sylhet to Dhaka.

Bangladesh were set to face Malaysia in two matches on June 23 and 26 at the Sylhet District Stadium. But the worsening flood situation has made damaged the stadium and the practice venue, leading to the matches being
relocated.

Both matches will now be arranged at the Shaheed Sipahi Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, Dhaka.

The women’s team will return to action with these matches after eight months as they last played in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualification in September 2021.

The Sylhet stadium was also supposed to host matches of the Bangladesh Premier League from June 20, which will also be shifted.

Since Thursday night more areas in Sylhet have been flooded where water has been on the rise in the flood-hit areas.
