England hit a world record one-day international score of 498-4 against the Netherlands in Amstelveen on Friday, with three men scoring centuries in the run blitz.

Eoin Morgan’s side beat their own mark of 481-6 set against Australia at Trent Bridge in 2018, in the first match of the three-game series.

Jos Buttler, who finished on 162 not out, plundered his ton off just 47 balls -- missing his own record for the fastest England century by just one ball -- while Phil Salt and Dawid Malan also made three figures.

Liam Livingstone, batting at number six, made the fastest 50 in England’s ODI history off just 17 balls -- the joint second-fastest of all-time.

Winning the toss, Netherlands skipper Pieter Seelaar won the toss and invited England to bat first. England lost Jason Roy (1) early, but Salt and Malan made sure that they had a base to fire upon.

They put together 222 runs for the second wicket as Salt hit his first ODI century, before getting out for 122 off 93 deliveries. His dismissal saw Buttler come to the crease, and the onslaught began.

He put together 184 off 90 deliveries with Malan, where Malan contributed only 39 off 30 deliveries. Buttler reached his fifty off 27 deliveries and took only 20 more to reach triple figures.

Malan hit his first ODI hundred and was dismissed for 125 off 109 deliveries off Seelaar’s bowling, and England skipper Eoin Morgan was trapped LBW on the next delivery.

For the fifth wicket, Buttler and Livingstone put together 91 runs in just 32 deliveries and took England to 498-4 with 21 runs scored in the last over.
