Mohammedan Sporting Club claimed the title of the 2021-22 Women’s Dhaka Premier League by the barest of margins as they pipped Rupali Bank Krira Parishad on net run rate.
Mohammedan and Rupali Bank had a match on Saturday. Mohammedan were set to face Indira Road, while Rupali Bank were facing Khelaghar. But both matches were washed out, leading to both teams ending the campaign on 19 points.
Both Mohammedan and Rupali Bank remained unbeaten throughout the campaign, winning eight matches out of 11, alongside three matches being washed out.
But Mohammedan, led by national team all-rounder Salma Khatun, had a net run rate of 2.804, while Rupali Bank, led by Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty, had 2.330, meaning the black-and-whites claimed the title.
Bangladesh opener Fargana Haque Pinky, who played for runners-up Rupali Bank, ended the league with the most runs as she scored 490 runs in 10 innings. Khelaghar’s Lata Mandal scored 313 runs in eight innings.
BKSP’s Marufa Akter ended the campaign with the most wickets as she picked up 22 wickets in 10 matches. Among national team players, both Fahima Khatun and Jahanara Alam picked up 16 wickets each, with Fariha Trishna claiming 14. Salma, who played seven matches, picked up 12 wickets.
