John Campbell ensured the win for West Indies against Bangladesh at Antigua with a six against Nazmul Hossain on Sunday.

It took Campbell and Jermaine Blackwood only half an hour to complete the business which remain unsettled on Saturday.

Chasing 84 runs to win, West Indies were 50-3 in 15 overs at the end of day three; two overnight batsmen Blackwood and Campbell took seven overs to score the remaining 34 runs and did not allow any more damage.

Khaled Ahmed rocked the Caribbean top-order in the late hours of day three, but he could not replicate that as the play began on day four.

Campbell completed his half-century with a four against Nazmul Hossain Shanto and after that, he went for the kill with a big six over long-off.

West Indies won the match by seven wickets, and with almost two days to spare, they overtook current World Test Champions New Zealand in the points table.

On the other hand, Bangladesh suffered another defeat and remain at the bottom of the chart.

The newly-appointed Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan said in the post-match presentation that the toss played a vital role, ‘(The toss) of course played a significant part. That said, we needed to apply ourselves better’, said Shakib.

Before the start of the match, Shakib told in the press conference that he expects top-order to perform but in Antigua that did not happen.

“Going into lunch 6-wickets down wasn’t a good thing. That first session killed the match for us. We have been having a lot of collapses and it doesn’t help the bowlers. All of the bowlers bowled their hearts out”, the captain said during the presentation.

Shakib scored half-centuries in both the innings; in the first innings he was the lone wolf but in the second innings he got support from Nurul Hasan who also got a fifty. Nurul Hasan was brought into the playing XI at the last moment due to the injury of Yasir Ali, Shakib praised Nurul’s efforts and said he enjoyed batting together

“Nurul showed a lot of character. I was quite positive while batting and I wasn’t thinking what the ball would do. If it was there to be hit, I would”, Shakib said after the match.

Kemar Roach always enjoys success against Bangladesh, especially in Antigua which is his happy hunting ground. The pacer just recovered from injury and produced a Steller performance to earn the Man of the Match award.

“There were a few good wishes, especially from family. Feels good to see fans happy, it feels nice to be on level with him. I am quite big on stats. Feels good to be level with him”, the pacer said after equalling Michael Holding on number of wickets.
