Bangladesh lose top spot to England

Bangladesh lost the top spot of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, the qualification process for the 2023 Cricket World Cup, to England.

England made a clean sweep against the Netherlands, won the three-match series 3-0, and went to the top of the point table with 125 points.

Bangladesh dropped down to the second position with 120 points.

Both Bangladesh and England have played 18 matches so far, and both the teams have won 12 matches. But Bangladesh lost six matches while England lost five and one match ended with no result.

England’s recent success against the Netherlands gave them a huge boost in the net run rate, they now have an NRR of +1.219 while Bangladesh have an NRR of +0.384.

The third-placed team on the points table is Afghanistan with 100 points, Pakistan is placed fourth and West Indies is in fifth place.

The top eight teams will get a direct entry to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The remaining teams will have to play in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier along with five associate teams.
