Saif Uddin to miss West Indies series

Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saif Uddin has been pulled out of the ODI and T20 international squads for the Tour of West Indies 2022 due to fitness concerns, said a media release from Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The 25-year-old all-rounder, who has taken 41 wickets from 29 ODIs and 31 wickets in 29 T20 internationals, has made a recovery from a back injury but is yet to attain optimal bowling fitness.

BCB Chief Sports Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said, “Although Saif Uddin is training, we feel that at the moment he has not reached the bowling fitness level required to cope with the intensity of international cricket. He will miss the West Indies series as he continues his rehab and works on his fitness.”

Saif last appeared for Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE. After playing against Sri Lanka, he complained about back pain and he was replaced by Rubel Hossain during the tournament.

Since then, Saif hasn’t featured in any format for Bangladesh though he played in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Abahani.

BCB sent Saif to England for higher treatment but no problems were diagnosed in his body.
