Bangladesh women’s national football team is hopeful about winning their second match in a row against 85th-ranked Malaysia after they thrashed the visitors 6-0 on Thursday at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka.

They will play their second FIFA international friendly match today at the same venue.

The women in red and green had a goal galore on Thursday netting six goals against a Malaysian side 60 places above them in the rankings.

Bangladesh head coach, Golam Rabbani Choton, expects a competitive match despite outplaying a strong Malaysian side on all fronts.

“Since we have played a match against them, they know our tactics. But we know their strategies too. We are going to plan accordingly. It’s going to be competitive,” he said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

But Choton also promised a good show for the fans saying that his team would go out there to play entertaining football.

“We will play entertaining and attacking football. We will follow our plans. Since we have already won the first match, the girls will give their full strength in the next match and come back with the win,” he said.

Bangladesh captain Sabina Khatun walked along the same lines and ensured that her team would walk out there to give the fans an entertaining time.

“Our target tomorrow (today) will be to deliver entertaining football to the fans. We want to present good football to the people coming to the stadium. We will try to give them something good to go back home with,” she said.

The forward, who scored in the first match, also took caution and believed that Malaysia would come at them after losing the first game.

“We are still confident. We are not distracted and have fixated our focus on the game. Since Malaysia lost the previous match, they will come back with better performances. The coaches have addressed our lackings and we have fixed those. We are hopeful about winning the series,” she said on Saturday.
