Bangladesh managed a couple of wickets in the first hour of the third day of their second Test against West Indies in St Lucia on Sunday before rain interrupted play and players were forced off the field.

West Indies managed to score 36 runs in the 10 overs played before rain came in, taking their score to 376-7. They now lead by 132 runs, and with Kyle Mayers unbeaten on 140.

The two wickets of the day were taken by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Khaled Ahmed. Both of them now have three wickets each in this innings.

Bangladesh, after a frustrating day two, found a breakthrough early on day three as Miraz trapped Joshua Da Silva, who scored 29 off 115 deliveries. LBW in the second over of the day.

Trying to get more aggressive, Da Silva tried to sweep Miraz. But the added drift from Miraz, saw the ball go straight and strike the West Indian batsman right in front of the stumps. The umpire raised his finger quickly to end the 96-run stand between him and Mayers.

Alzarri Joseph was the next to go as he tried to up the ante. He tried to pull Khaled, but could not time the ball as Liton Das took an easy catch at mid-wicket.

The next five overs were calmly seen off by Mayers and Kemar Roach as the former was approaching 150. He was unbeaten on 140 off 203 deliveries, while Roach has played 19 deliveries to score seven.

Miraz currently has figures of 3-82 from 36 overs, while Khaled has given away 93 runs to pick three wickets. The other wicket was taken by Shoriful Islam.

Earlier in day two, Bangladesh had found some hope when they managed four wickets in the morning session. But a 116-run stand between West Indies vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood and Mayers saw the game drift away from Bangladesh as the hosts took the lead.

Mayers went on to pick up his second Test ton, with both coming against Bangladesh. In his first one, he scored an unbeaten 210 to chase down 395 in Chattogram, and in St Lucia, he is also approaching a similar milestone as Bangladesh are finding it difficult to get rid of him.
