Shakib unlikely for ODI series; says BCB President

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is unlikely for the three-match One Day International series against West Indies, said Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan.

Nazmul briefed the reporters after the meeting of the BCB directors at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday and said that senior cricketers might be rested during the ODI series as it is not part of the Cricket World Cup Super League.

“Before going to the West Indies, Shakib verbally informed Jalal Bhai (Jalal Younus, chairman of the cricket operations committee) about his unavailability in the ODI series. As those matches are not part of the Super League, we might give rest to some senior cricketers. Let’s see how things shape up”, Nazmul said on Wednesday.

After the series defeat in West Indies, Shakib Al Hasan said that Bangladesh do not have the `Test Culture’. The BCB president more or less agreed with the Test captain and gave a long list of how Bangladesh improved under his tenure during the last 10 years.

But to control the damage, Nazmul told the media that the BCB will form a working committee to find out the reasons behind poor show in Test matches.

Nazmul also told about procurement of lands for new cricket grounds and also about the recent developments of Sheikh Hasina Cricket Stadium after the BCB board directors meeting on Wednesday.
