Pacer Hasan Mahmud took three wickets for Bangladesh Tigers against the High-Performance squad on the opening day of the four-day match at Shahid Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Selected members of the Bangladesh Tigers and HP squad were sent to Rajshahi for a four-day match, while the remaining players of both teams stayed in Dhaka to train.
Bangladesh Tigers XI skipper Zakir Hasan has won the toss and decided to bowl first. The day’s play on Thursday was stopped at 4:05 PM due to bad light and was officially called off after 40 minutes. Before that, rain also stopped the play for 55 minutes, from 2:30 PM to 3:25 PM.
Due to inclement weather, only 53 overs were played at Rajshahi and the HP team managed to score 176-6.
Opener Mahfizul Islam, who was part of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup team, was the highest scorer with 47 runs. Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 11 runs while Amite Hasan was out for a duck.
All three batsmen of the HP team were dismissed by Hasan Mahmud, one of Bangladesh’s brightest pace prospects. Hasan has played a T20I and three ODIs for Bangladesh. Hasan is gaining momentum as he took three wickets for just 29 runs in 11 overs. Abu Jayed Rahi bowled nine overs, went for 40 runs, and failed to get a wicket.
Nayeem Hasan also came back to bowling after recovering from the finger injury he sustained during the Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka. The off-spinner took two wickets.
