Imrul secures win for Bangladesh Tigers

Imrul Kayes’ 68-run knock on the final day of the four-day match between Bangladesh Tigers and Bangladesh Cricket Board HP secured the victory for the Tigers by nine wickets at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Sunday.

Chasing a total of 127 on day four, the left-handed batsman strung up a 120-run partnership with another lefty Mohammad Naim , who scored 47 runs, to take Bangladesh Tigers home.

Imurl hit nine fours and three sixes and remained unbeaten as he took his team across the finish line in a comfortable victory.

BCB HP started the day on 123-4, leading by 32 runs. But their innings couldn’t last too long as they skittled out for 217.

HP batsman Shahadat Hossain Dipu top-scored with 40 runs.

Tigers’ left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam added to his three wicket-tally on day three and ended the innings with figures of four for 35 runs, and his teammate Abu Hider Rony scalped three wickets for 35 runs.

In reply, opener Soumya Sarker was dismissed early for nine runs, courtesy of left-arm pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury.

But that was that for HP as they couldn’t make further breakthroughs as the Imrul-Naim cruised to their target, with Imrul smashing his 68 runs off just 69 balls.

Naim remained unbeaten on 47, and his knock consisted of six fours and one six.
