Bangladesh cricket team members left Dominica for Guyana on Monday morning (local time) where they will play the remaining one Twenty20 International match and three One Day Internationals.

Dominica earlier provided a joyful experience for Bangladesh; the Tigers won two ODI matches at Windsor Park in 2009 but this time the entire trip was distressing.

After a poor show in the Test match at St Lucia, Bangladesh team members embarked on a ferry journey towards Dominica. Due to inclement weather, the journey became a nightmare for many cricketers who suffered motion sickness throughout the voyage.

After panicking and vomiting, finally, the cricketers reached Dominica and without practice session, they had to play the first T20 of the series.

The start of the match was delayed, rain interrupted a couple of times and finally, the match was called off which saved Bangladesh from another humiliation as they managed only 105-8 in a match that came down to 14 overs per side.

But West Indies did not waste the opportunity in the second T2OI, most of the bowlers received bashing by Brendon King and Rovman Powell and the Caribbeans piled up a total of 193 runs at Windsor Park.

In reply, Bangladesh showed that despite the change of jersey and ball color, their habit of giving away early wickets did not change.

Within the first three overs of the chase, Bangladesh lost their top three batsmen and the momentum.

Eventually, Bangladesh lost the game by 35 runs but in reality, they were out of the game after the dismissal of Afif Hossain in the 11th over.

Batsmen had poor runs, bowlers appeared only once and received bashing from the Caribbeans.  Shakib Al Hasan went for 23 runs in his last over of the spell, Taskin Ahmed gave away 21 runs in his comeback match and the skipper did not hand him the ball again.

Mustafizur Rahman was also expensive and he is failing to take wickets against stronger opposition in away matches constantly.

Since he took two wickets against West Indies in 2018, he played 10 T20Is and picked eight wickets. But out of this eight, four came against Oman and three came against Zimbabwe. The remaining one was against Pakistan in 2020.

He could not find any success against India in three matches, against New Zealand and West Indies he also remains wicketless.

The Tigers left Dominica for Guyana, where they have some gleeful memories. Bangladesh defeated South Africa at the Providence Stadium Guyana in the 2007 World Cup which is one of the biggest successes against the proteas.

Bangladesh also won two ODI matches against West Indies on the same ground when they toured the Caribbeans in 2018.

Bangladesh players must be very relieved as they are taking a flight, not another ferry ride to the next destination and the sub-continent-like environment might give them some homely feel at the last leg of their tour which is yet to provide any joyful moment.
