England batsman Jonny Bairstow entered the top 10 of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time in his career after scoring four centuries in his last three Tests.
He currently sits 10th, with teammate Joe Root cementing his top spot with his ton at Edgbaston.
Bairstow hit two centuries in that Test against India in Edgbaston. In the first innings, his 106 helped England come out of a crisis, while his unbeaten 114 in the second innings along with Root’s unbeaten 142 runs helped England chase down 378, a new record for them.
Bairstow currently has 742 rating points, while Root has 923.
Among others, India’s Virat Kohli went out of the top ten of the Test rankings for the first time since 2016 in the latest ranking updates. He currently sits 13th with 714 rating points.
Rishabh Pant, courtesy of his hundred at Edgbaston, climbed five steps to fifth with 801 rating points.
Cheteshwar Pujara, who returned to the Indian side with this Test, climbed two steps to 26th. Ravindra Jadeja climbed eight steps to 34th courtesy of his century.
Among Bangladesh batsmen, Liton Das dropped a spot to 14th, and so did Mushfiqur Rahim to drop to 19th. Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan are 40th and 41st respectively.
In the bowling rankings, James Anderson climbed a step to sixth, while Stuart Broad dropped two steps down to 16th.
