Bangladesh ace pacer Mustafizur Rahman has not been at his usual best, especially in the last few white-ball matches in away conditions, but the left-arm pacer assured that he is trying to improve.

The 26-year-old admitted that he couldn’t perform to his full potential following his surgery but said that he trying to learn from the best bowlers in the world.

“After my operation, I couldn’t bowl or perform well for the next one-and-a-half years. I am trying to improve, and I believe there is no end to learning, and you can improve every day. I am trying to learn how to become like the good bowlers in the world. Whether it is my fitness or taking in the coaches’ advice, I am still learning,” he said on Wednesday.

‘The Fizz’ also explained the reasoning behind his rising run rates in away conditions, specifically outside the sub-continent and said that good, true wickets might be one of the reasons for their expensive spells.

“The Asian wickets are different to the wickets outside of Asia. The wickets outside Asia are very good, true wickets; I believe this might be one of the reasons. I always try to give my best, he said.

“It is very difficult for teams to score 150 runs in Asia but outside of Asia, you’ll see that even 200 runs are not safe to defend. And this is why I think our economy rate rises,” he added.

Bangladesh lost the second T20I against the West Indies in Dominica on Sunday and will play the final match of the three-match series in Guyana today.

Mustafiz admitted that they had bowled poorly in the second T20I, and the track in Dominica aided batting.

“The wickets here are good.

Any other team would’ve scored around 200 runs on this track. We have bowled poorly. We will try to do better,” he said.
