Australia cricket team lost the top spot of the World Test Championships 2021-23 as they slipped to second after their series draw against Sri Lanka, following an innings defeat in the second Test in Galle.
Australia were on 72 points before the series, with a points percentage of 81.25. They further reinforced their position at the top after winning the first Test but lost their hold following the defeat in Galle.
South Africa now tops the table with 60 points and a points percentage of 71.43.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka have continued to impress despite the country being in economic turmoil.
Dimuth Karunaratne’s men have displaced Pakistan, who were sitting third with 44 points and a points percentage of 52.38, while Sri Lanka have managed to better their points tally and their points percentage. Following their win in the second Test, they have accumulated 52 points and have a points percentage of 54.17.
India are just behind Pakistan at fifth, with 75 points and a points percentage of 52.08.
West Indies have seen a surge after their clean sweep against Bangladesh at home. The Caribbeans have moved up to 6th, courtesy of 54 points and a points percentage of 50.
England have managed to better their standing in the table following their 3-0 series win against New Zealand. They are now above the Blackcaps at seventh with 64 points and a points percentage of 33.33, while New Zealand stand eighth with 28 points and a points percentage of 25.93.
Bangladesh are languishing at the bottom despite starting the year on a winning note against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui. That was that as the Tigers have failed to list a win since that triumph, and managed to draw just one match.
They are bottom with 16 points and a points percentage of 13.33.
