Kings on verge of third title in a row, relegation battle tightens

Bangladesh Premier League football will resume its action after the Eid-ul-Adha break today with the match between Dhaka Abahani and Swadhinata KS in Cumilla.

The 19th and 20th rounds of matches will be played on July 14, 15, 18, 19, 20 and 21, with the final day seeing three matches.

As the final rounds begin, defending champions Bashundhara Kings are smelling a third consecutive title as they are 10 points ahead of Abahani at the top. Abahani have a match in hand, but a win in that would still keep them seven points away from the league leaders.

Kings’ next match is against Saif Sporting Club on July 18, and a win in that game will crown them as champions with two matches in hand.

On the other end of the table, the relegation battle is tightening up as four teams are still in danger- Rahamatganj MFS, Uttar Baridhara, Muktijoddha SKC, and Swadhinata KS. The teams have 14, 13, 11, and nine points respectively.

Rahamatganj will have an upper hand in this round as they will be facing Bangladesh Police FC, while Muktijoddha will take on Sheikh Russel KC and Uttar Baridhara will face Mohammedan SC.

In the 20th round, Rahamatganj and Swadhinata KS will meet in a relegation face-off on July 21.

Fortis FC, champions of the Bangladesh Championship League, have already secured a spot in the league next season.
