Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has seen a rise in the ICC One-Day International bowling rankings following his stellar performance in the ODI opener against the West Indies on Sunday.
The right-arm off-spinner moved to sixth from seventh and has accumulated 675 points, only one point behind Afghan spinner Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman, who sits fifth.
Mehidy’s exploits with the ball at the Providence Stadium in Guyana earned him the player of the match award and helped Bangladesh go 1-0 up in the three-match series. He returned with figures of three for 36 runs in nine overs, including two maidens and bowled with an economy rate of four. His three scalps included opener Kyle Mayers, skipper Nicolas Pooran, and hard-hitter Rovman Powell.
Mehidy’s compatriots Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, and Liton Das have seen improvements in the ODI batting rankings as well.
Mushfiq moved to 16th, Shakib went to 26th, and Liton moved to 32nd in the latest ODI batting rankings.
Indian players have seen massive surges in the ODI rankings following their crushing 10-wicket victory against England in the first ODI at The Oval on Tuesday.
India speedster Jaspit Bumrah became the world's top-ranked ODI bowler on the latest rankings with 718 points. Fresh from his match-winning spell of 6-19 in the opening match, Bumrah, who surged three places, dethroned New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who had 712 points.
But it was India’s Suryakumar Yadav, who saw massive gains in the latest Twenty20 International batting rankings. The 31-year-old jumped an impressive 44 spots to fifth overall in the rankings, with the right-hander now leading the charts amongst Indian batsmen in the shortest format.
Yadav hit his maiden T20I century in the final game of India's three-match T20I series against England earlier this week, and his knock helped him to a career-high rating of 732 ranking points.
Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal, who hit his first Test double century against Australia this week, climbed 19 steps to 29th in Test batting rankings.
