Former Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque was not picked for the A team squad scheduled to tour West Indies next month.
Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squads on Friday and neither of the two squads featured Mominul. The A team will play two four-day matches and three fifty-over matches against the West Indies A team.
The left-handed batsman stepped down as captain in June following a run of disappointing results, but the tipping point had come from an extended run of poor form with the bat.
Despite BCB’s promise of placing out-of-form players within a system that will help them get back to their best, the board didn’t go toward that path in Mominul’s case.
Right-handed batsman Anamul Haque, who recently made his comeback to the national side, was named in the four-day squad but was left out of the One-day side.
Dropped openers Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan were included, with the latter being named in both the squads.
Soumya Sarker made it to the One-day squad and was joined by another opener, Mohammad Naim.
The A-team will arrive in West Indies on July 31.
The tour will begin with the first four-day Test starting on August 4, and the second Test will start on August 10.
Following the conclusion of the four-day matches, the action will move to the fifty-over matches, the first of which will be on August 16.
The next two One-days will be on August 18 and 20.
All matches of the tour will be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia.
