Bangladesh are hoping for better results in the upcoming 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, as per Syed Shahed Reza, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Olympic Association.

On Sunday, BOA held a press conference at the BOA Auditorium, speaking about the overall progress and prospects of the athletes participating in the upcoming Games.

There will be no shooting sports in the Birmingham Games, hindering Bangladesh’s chances of winning a medal, but the Secretary-General of BOA is hopeful that the athletes will perform better and uphold the prestige of the nation.

“Shooting and Archery are the two sports in which Bangladesh are doing well at the international level. But this time around, Shooting has not been included in the Commonwealth Games. Despite everything, I believe the athletes will uphold the dignity of the red and green flag in these two international sports meets,” Shahed said on Sunday.

Bangladesh will take part in the seven disciplines of the Commonwealth games- Athletics, Boxing, Gymnastics, Swimming, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Table Tennis.

Weightlifter Mabia Akther will be the flag-bearer in the march past at Birmingham.
