Muktijoddha SKC managed a 2-1 win over Mohammedan SC at the Sheikh Fazlul Haq Moni Stadium in Gopalganj to find three valuable points in their mission to avoid relegation from the Bangladesh Premier League.
In another match of the day, Rahamatganj MFS thrashed Swadhinata KS 5-1 to almost ensure survival, while the defeated Swadhinata are now bound to be relegated.
Muktijoddha currently have 15 points from 20 matches, one point ahead of 11th-placed Uttar Baridhara. Rahamatganj have 18 points now from 20 games, meaning if Baridhara fail to better their result in the next gameweek, they are safe.
Swadhinata only have nine points from 20 matches.
In Gopalganj, Muktijoddha took the lead in the 26th minute, courtesy of their recruit from Burundi, Sudi Abdallah. Sudi then doubled their lead in the 69th minute.
There were moments of panic for them in the final stages as Obi Moneke pulled one back for Mohammedan, but Muktijoddha managed to hold on to their 2-1 lead and three points. – TBP
