Bangladesh Under-20 national football team will take on India in the ongoing U20 SAFF Championship today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India. The match will start at 4:30 PM Bangladesh time.
Ahead of the match, Bangladesh players spent time at the gym on Tuesday and did strength and conditioning work.
Bangladesh made a good start in the five-team tournament on Monday as they beat Sri Lanka 1-0, courtesy of a goal from substitute Mirazul Islam in the 71st minute.
After the match, Mirazul said that he wanted to do something similar against India.
“It felt really good to score that goal. Everybody sent me messages congratulating me. I wanted to see the people happy, which I achieved. And I want to continue this against India. If I can start that match, I will try to do my best,” he said.
Head coach of the U20 team, Paul Smalley, said the players did well despite playing together for the first time.
“It was very pleasing for the players who worked very hard. Sri Lanka made it very difficult for us. We score a very good goal and I think everyone is satisfied to start with a win, and the confidence will grow.
“These players hadn’t played together before. So, it was good to see some good attacking football from them. We created quite a few chances. We are looking forward to the game against India, they are very strong. We’ll be preparing professionally for them,” he said.
