Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to decide on the Twenty20 International captain after the fiasco in Harare. An announcement was expected after the BCB board of directors meeting on Thursday but the BCB president said they are weighing out their options before naming the captain for the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup.

Nurul Hasan Sohan was made T20I captain for the Zimbabwe series. After he got injured midway, Mahmudullah was called back from ‘rest’ and Mosaddek Hossain was made captain out of nowhere. Nazmul said that now they are considering three names for the leadership role,

“We have three names in our hand, that even includes Mahmudullah also. Shakib Al Hasan’s name is there. We are not denying anything, there is another name as well,” said Nazmul in a media briefing on Thursday.

Nazmul also said that the board will talk to the potential captain candidates before making the appointment.

“We had a few more names as well. Liton Das’ name came up, and Sohan’s name came up as many said that he could be a good choice for the future. If one becomes captain, another one will become vice-captain. But whoever gets the appointment, we need to talk to him first. Set some terms and conditions as well. You will know very soon,” said the BCB president.

Regarding Shakib’s return as T20 captain, Nazmul said, “I will not tell it now. If I tell you now, you will know everything.”
