Bangladesh A team were trailing by 96 runs at the end of the third day, which saw only 35 overs due to several rain interruptions, in the first four-day match against West Indies A in Saint Lucia on Monday.
West Indies A managed to add 98 runs in those 35 overs and ended the day at 263-5. Alick Athanaze and Yannic Cariah remained unbeaten on 30 and 18.
West Indian skipper Joshua De Silva scored 43 runs, and Tevin Imlach managed 36 runs before being dismissed by Bangladesh fast-bowler Khaled Ahmed, picked both the wickets that fell on day three, ending with figures of 2-73.
Bangladesh A fielding coach Rajin Salah said that his bowlers bowled decently, and if they can manage early wickets on the final day, then the batsman can have another go with the bat.
“I thought the bowlers were disciplined. They didn’t bowl that bad, but it could’ve been better. If we can pick up some early wickets tomorrow, we can hope to bat again,” he said.
With so much time taken away from the match due to rain, the possibility of a deciding result is unlikely.
Rajin said they could not lose the match from here, and were hoping for a draw.
“Definitely the match is going towards a draw, losing it is out of the question. We hoped to win the match when we came in, but a lot of time has been taken away from the match,” he said.
