Bangladesh Cricket Board will not allow the foreign coaching staff of the national team to go on leave after the failure in Zimbabwe, said a BCB official.

Chairman of the cricket operations committee at the BCB, Jalal Yunus told the media on Monday that all the foreign nationals of the coaching staff must return to Bangladesh,

“We have told them to come to Dhaka before going to the Asia Cup. So that we can make a comprehensive plan. The reason is not only Asia Cup, we have back-to-back matches. Next year England will come to Bangladesh, we wanted to know what are their plans”, Jalal told the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

It was a common practice for foreign nationals to join the team en route or directly to the host country. After the series, coaches used to take leave to join their families.

During the South Africa tour of Bangladesh, spin bowling coach Rangana Herath flew from Sri Lanka and joined the team in transit, Russel Domingo was in South Africa and joined the team later.

But the BCB now want to stop the practice and called the coaching staff in Dhaka which means Domingo, and Allan Donald can not visit their home despite going close but have to return to Bangladesh, “They are supposed to return on 19th, probably we will seat with them on 20th (August)”, added Jalal.

When coaches like Lance Klusener and Brendon McCullum are changing the nature of the game with an aggressive mindset, Bangladesh batsmen are still showing a timid mentality. Jala admits that the present set of coaches is a bit more defensive, “Some are aggressive, some are not. Hathurasinghe had an aggressive style, which we need. Present coaches are also dedicated. Maybe their way of coaching is different”, said the cricket operations chairman.

“The coaches we have, the head coach and the batting coach they all are wise. We want the coaches to motivate the players to be aggressive. Players need to show some aggressive attitude in the field”, added Jalal.

“Here we need someone who can transform them, if someone is playing slow the coaches can transform him to an attacking batsman”, Said the BCB director.

The message is loud and clear that the top—brass of the BCB is not happy with some of the coaches. As most of the coaches will run out of their contracts after the T20 World Cup, BCB might be sending a message to the foreign coaches that another failure on a bigger stage could cost them their job.

Jalal also cleared BCB’s position regarding the latest controversy created by Shakib Al Hasan who signed for a surrogate company of an online betting site.

“There has been an issue and we are communicating with him. We have already talked to him once. We need to fix this issue, you will know in one or two days”, Jalal told the reporters.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy to anything regarding betting. We have found his involvement with one such company. He has been informed about our standpoint. Hopefully, we will solve the issue soon”, Jalal said on Monday.
