Sports bodies observe National Mourning Day

Sports bodies across the country carried out several activities on account of the National Mourning Day on Monday.

Bangladesh Cricket Board held a recitation from the Holy Quran, special prayers and distributed food in orphanages and Madrasas on the day.

Bangladesh Football Federation arranged special prayers for the departed followed by the distribution of food amongst the poor. The BFF also placed wreaths.

Bangladesh Olympic Association started the day by half-masting the national flag, followed by the placing of wreaths at the historic residence of the Father of the nation at Dhanmondi 32. BOA later held prayers for the departed family at the Banani graveyard. After placing wreaths at Bangabandhu’s portrait at the number one gate at Bangabandhu Stadium in Gulistan, the BOA distributed food in orphanages and Madrasas in nearby Motijheel areas.

The national players currently taking part in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey also observed the National Mourning Day.
