Roksana misses out on Bronze in final day

Archer Roksana Akter missed out on a bronze medal in the Women’s Compound Archery event in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey on Thursday.

On the closing day of the games, Roksana lost to Suzer Ayse Bera by 133-136 points in the bronze medal deciding match.

Earlier, Roksana defeated two Turkish archers to reach the semi-finals. She defeated Yildir Sevim by 144-140 in the quarter-final and then lost to Bostan Ucar Yesim in the semifinals.

Moving to the bronze medal match, Roksana lost to Suzer Ayse Bera by 133-136.

In Karate, women’s -61 KG Kumite, Humaira Akther Antara lost to a competitor from Morocco.

Secretary-General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza appeared as the chief guest in the medal ceremony of the Women’s 200-meter breaststroke and awarded medals to the winners.

The fifth Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya ended today. Bangladesh finished with three medals, one silver and two bronzes. All the medals came from the Archery discipline.

Hosts Turkey ended the games with the most medals as they won 316 in total- 130 golds, 101 silvers, and 85 bronzes. Uzbekistan came second with 143 medals- 48 gold, 39 silvers, and 56 bronzes.

Iran were the only other country to hit three figures in medals as they picked up 129- 39 golds, 42 silvers, and 48 bronzes.
