Sridharan Shriram was a kind of cricketer who remains unnoticed in his playing days. The left-arm spinner played eight matches for India in the early millennium, six at home in 2000, and two against Bangladesh in 2004.

His last international appearance for India was in Dhaka on December 26 where Sriram made his only half-century. But nobody remembers that because Mashrafe Bin Mortaza stole the show and Bangladesh defeated India for the first time.

In a nutshell, his best in international cricket was shadowed by many other incidents that people hardly remember him as an international cricketer.

But on August 21, Sriram just felt like a south Indian superstar in Chennai when he reached Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. There were more than a hundred journalists, TV cameras, smartphones, and microphones aimed at him and everyone was eager to have a snap or word with him. A bunch of journalists missed the practice match to get a sight of him. Because, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board officials, Shriram is here to change the T20 mindset of the Bangladesh cricketers.

The former Indian cricketer who worked with the Australian cricket team as a spin bowling coach and also worked with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, an Indian Premier League franchise landed in Dhaka at noon and came to the BCB office inside the SBNCS premise.

He completed his formalities and met the selectors, he also watched the practice match and met the players in the dressing room.
