Hong Kong make it two in two

Hong Kong won their second match in the Asia Cup Qualifiers 2022 beating Kuwait by eight wickets at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket in Oman on Tuesday.

This put them in pole position to qualify with one match remaining as UAE and Kuwait have lost a match each, with Singapore losing both of their contests.

On Tuesday’s match, Kuwait posted 151-9 after being put into bat, largely due to a 56-run knock by number eight Edson Silva, who scored 56 off 30 balls, smashing six sixes and one four.

A late cameo by Sayed Monib, who scored 16 off 6 deliveries, surged Kuwait’s total to 151-9.Hong Kong’s Yasim Murtaza, Ehsan Khan, and Aizaz Khan scalped two wickets each.

In reply, openers Yasim Murtaza and Nizakat Khan put on a 59-run stand before the former departed for 46 runs off 33 balls as he hit seven fours and one six.

Babar Hayat then went on to smash a fifty, scoring 53 off 30 balls, including five sixes and two fours, as he hit the winning runs to give Hong Kong an eight-wicket victory.
