Jalal denies rebuking players

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Chairman of Cricket Operations Jalal Yunus has denied the statements of national team head coach Russell Domingo regarding the pressures applied by the board on the players.

Domingo took a swipe at the board in an interview he gave to a national daily on Wednesday saying that board members have the tendency of rebuking and having a go at the players when performances are poor.

Jalal, on the other hand, denied the head coach’s allegations and said that the coach can not put out such statements.

“He cannot give this kind of statement. He is still our contracted coach. The language he used, which said that the players are rebuked, is very objectionable,” he said.

“When it comes to breaching protocols or the code of conduct, then yes protocols have been breached,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Russel Domingo’s interview was published. In that excerpt, Domingo slammed the BCB for interfering with team activities and having a go at players in difficult times.

Domingo was dropped as coach from the T20 side after a string of poor results, including two wins in 13 games since the ICC T20 World Cup, and instead gave authority to newly-appointed T20 technical consultant Sridharan Sriram till the World Cup.
