Barisal Division skipper Nigar Sultana Joty scored her second fifty in the Women’s National Cricket League 2022 to take set up an 18-run victory against Dhaka Division at the Sylhet Academy Ground on Wednesday.
With that win, Barisal now sit top of the table jointly with Khulna Division with 10 points after five games.
Barisal posted 117-4 after being put into bat, courtesy of Nigar’s unbeaten 57 runs off 49 balls for which she was adjudged the player of the match. Dhaka Division’s Rupa Roy and Pinki scalped three wickets each. In reply, Dhaka managed 99-6 after 20 overs.
At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, hosts Sylhet Division clinched a six-run win against Mymensingh Division.
Opener Shamima Sultana’s 69 runs off 66 balls helped Sylhet post 100-5, and the Sylhet bowlers came back to restrict Mymensingh for 94. Marufa Akter and Fahima Khatun picked up three wickets each.
In another low-scoring affair, Chattogram Division came out on top against Rajshahi Division as they won by nine wickets at the Sylhet Academy Ground.
Rajshahi could only manage 94-3, and Chattogram openers Afiya Anam and Mst Eva put up a 75-run stand, with the former playing an unbeaten 40-run knock off 56 balls.
Khulna Division won their fourth match of the tournament by 27 runs against Rangpur Division at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Rangpur Division, like all the other teams, remained true to the trend of bowling first after winning the toss.
Khulna scored 113-5 after being put into bat, largely due to opener RH Jhelik, who scored 59 runs off 58 balls. Rangpur’s underwhelming reply saw them end the innings 86-8 as they succumbed to their second defeat.
