Bangladesh national team head coach for the One-Day International and Test team Russell Domingo has denied that he has submitted his resignation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
A national daily in Bangladesh had claimed that Domingo had decided to step down from his role as head coach of the Bangladesh national team.
But Domingo, who is currently in South Africa, confirmed to The Business Post that he did not resign from his post as the head coach.
Later in the day, BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that it was all a misinterpretation.
“He (Domingo) has not resigned. There has been nothing such.
“Some things did not appear (in the media) as he said. The matter is such. There is no chance to complicate this. There has been some misrepresentation,” the BCB said to the media on Thursday.
Earlier this week, BCB told Domingo to focus on the 50-over and longer-version side after they appointed Sridharan Sriram as the technical consultant of the T20 team.
Chowdhury also explained that the South African coach will continue to work with the ODI and Test team, and had talked about this with BCB President Nazmul Hassan.
“Russell (Domingo) has spoken with the BCB President about how he will be working with the Test and ODI team. Russell is planning in accordance with that. Hopefully, Russell will submit his detailed plan to the board soon,” he said.
The CEO also added that Domingo would be travelling with the A team on their tour against Afghanistan in UAE.
“He might be going to the UAE with the A team for our series against Afghanistan. It will start at the end of September. There were such discussions. This is the total representation (of matters),” Chowdhury explained.
