The Bangladesh Cricket Board named Afif Hossain vice-captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team for the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE on Saturday.
Afif, who is expected to bat up the order (possibly at number four), has been a mainstay for the Tigers T20I team as they look to overcome their T20I woes with a fresh brand of cricket.
Considered one of the most promising young talents from the new generation of cricketers, Bangladesh will bank on Afif’s abilities in the middle order to get them considerable totals.
The 22-year-old left-hander has played 47 T20 internationals for Bangladesh since making his debut in February 2018.
In the 47 T20Is, he has managed to score 698 runs at an average of 19.38 while striking it at 118.10, including two fifties. With his stylish batting, Afif can also bowl a few overs of his handy off-spin. He has scalped eight wickets at an economy rate of 8.25 so far in his T20I career.
