Silent return after dismal Asia Cup

Bangladesh Cricket team players returned to Dhaka on Saturday morning from the United Arab Emirates after they failed to qualify for the super four of the Asia Cup 2022.

Due to ticket availability, the cricketers returned on different flights. Captain Shakib Al Hasan returned ahead of the other team members due to personal commitments. The ace all-rounder will then fly to the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League for the Guyana Amazon Warriors and will join the Tigers squad directly in New Zealand for the tri-nation series. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Anamul Haque returned on Saturday morning.

Among the coaching staff members; batting coach Jamie Siddons, fielding coach Shane MacDermott and pace bowling coach Allan Donald returned to their respective countries.

Chairman of Cricket Operations at the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Jalal Yunus told the media in Dubai that there will be a camp for pace bowlers and batsmen under newly appointed technical consultant Sridharan Sriram in Dhaka,

“Sriram will come to Dhaka. With some local coaches he will run a camp for batting and fast bowlers”, he said.

Bangladesh were supposed to fly to New Zealand where they will take part in the tri-nation series but Jalal said that now the board is planning to send them early.

“We were supposed to go on 30th (September) but now we are thinking about going a bit early for better adaptation. We are trying to go around 24th or 25th, added Jalal.

The last date for squad announcement of the T20 World Cup is 15th September. Sriram will come to Dhaka on the 11th and he will see some other cricketers who were not part of the Asia Cup. Then BCB will announce the team for the World Cup.
