Booters head to Nepal after Cambodia victory

After clinching a 1-0 victory against Cambodia on Thursday, Bangladesh national football team left for Nepal on Friday afternoon to face the hosts in their second FIFA International friendly match at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Fresh from the Women’s team’s SAFF Championship triumph earlier on Monday, the Dasharath Stadium will host the Bangladesh Men’s team, who managed to pocket their first win under head coach Javier Cabrera in Cambodia.

Cabrera’s troops did not train on Friday and will take part in their first practice session today in the afternoon.

Bangladesh winger Rakib Hossain, whose goal was the difference in the Cambodia game, said he wanted to take his form to the next match.

“I am thrilled to have scored the winning goal for my team. I want to continue this form and contribute to the team’s cause. We have another friendly against Nepal, and I want to do well in that match as well,” said the 23-year-old, who made his national team debut in 2019.

Bangladesh skipper Jamal Bhuyan said that his team enjoyed their win against Cambodia, and has Nepal in their sights.

“Everybody is happy with the win. Our next target is Nepal. We have to focus on that game. It’s a very important match for us and we will give our best,” he said on Friday.
