Bangladesh national men’s cricket team vice-captain Nurul Hasan Sohan said they were focusing more on the process rather than results ahead of their tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan in New Zealand.
Bangladesh are playing this tri-series as a part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this month.
Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in the opening match of the tri-series on Friday. Ahead of the match, the trophy for the tri-series was revealed on Wednesday.
In Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan’s absence, who could not reach New Zealand in time due to visa complications, Nurul took his place and said that the team’s priority, at this point, is not results.
“Everyone is being given one message- to not think about the result. We are not worried about the result. We are thinking about the process. Everybody is working hard and trying to do their bit. We are focusing on playing as a team and playing everybody’s role according to the situation,” he said.
Nurul added that training and playing in New Zealand will help them in the T20 World Cup.
“These conditions in New Zealand and Australia are different from Asia. It’s a good opportunity that we are getting to play in New Zealand before the World Cup against two quality oppositions. This will boost us up for the World Cup, and if we can take positive things from here, then we can do well there too,” the Bangladesh vice-captain said.
